Kurukuma

I bought a bunch of Kurukuma flower on 22th September. I didn't know what kind of flower those were before my wife taught me.

As my wife said, Kurukuma is one of favorable flower for decoration of Buddhist altars(or Butudan in Japanese) in Equinoctial week (or Higan in Japanese.) it is a kind of Ginger.

I feel as if I am learning about flowers from my ignorance about flowers.

A bunch of flowers

I bought my wife a bunch of flowers to make up for not being at home in overwork.
I chose flowers that looked yet bloomed.
When I gave them my wife, she taught me that they were gentians and carnations.
In additon that, she said gentians were perfectly bloomed.

The following fuzzy picture is gentians.

Japanese translation is following.

Thinning sprouts.

I thinned sprouts this morning.
I might seed too much.
I could save seeds if I knew how to sow.

Sprouts of lettuce have appeared.

At last sprouts of lettuce have appeared.
News paper to cover the planter to prevent these from being dry was removed.
some of sprouts will have to be thinned after they have three or four leaves.

Lettuce

I began cultivation of lettuce at the veranda.
Because it would be useful in future.
I worry whether lettuce could grow.
